About Wineaster

Wineaster Anderson (PhD) is Professor of Marketing and currently, the Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University of Dodoma responsible for Planning, Finance and Administration. She was formerly Dean, Associate Dean of University of Dar es Salaam Business School and Director of Quality Assurance for the University of Dar es Salaam. She holds PhD (2008) and Masters (2005) in Tourism and Environmental Economics as well as MBA (2001) and Bachelor of Commerce (1999) in Marketing. Prof. Anderson has researched and published widely in the areas of international business, sustainable tourism, poverty alleviation, gender and marketing

She has served and continues to serve various Governmental Committees and Governing Boards within and outside Tanzania including Tanzania National Parks, Tanzania National Business Council - Tourism Working Group; Technical Advisory Committee to the Minister of Natural Resources and Tourism; Tanzania Investment Centre; College of Business Education; and the National Council for Technical Education - Business, Tourism and Planning Board. Others include the Senate of Open University of Tanzania and the Ministerial Advisory Board for the National College of Tourism. Prof. Anderson is also a Member of the Steering Committee of Green Growth and Innovation Disruption for the Tourism Sector in Tanzania, UNDP Pilot interventions in Tanzania; Chairperson of GTDC 8 – Tourism and Related Services; Chairperson of EASC/TC 076 - Services; and Member of Africa Organisation for Standardization [ARSO/TC 76 – Tourism and Related Services] Technical Committee.

Professor Anderson is recipient of various honours including the “Marketing Hall of Fame in Tanzania 2021”, awarded by Tanzania Marketing Science Association; International Women’s Day “A Woman of Success 2019” Award (University of Dar es Salaam), the “2018 Tanzania Women Champions in Tourism” Award (Africa Reconnect), 2015 Women of Achievement Award in Tanzania (TWAA), the Highly Commended African Management Research Fund Award (Emerald/ALCS) in 2010. She has won several research grants including DANIDA (Denmark), SIDA (Sweden), Conselleria d’Economia, Hisenda i Innovació of the Balearic Islands (Spain) and HEI – ICI (Finland) and VolkswagenStiftung (Germany).
