UDOM LAUNCHES IACs UNDER HEET PROJECT

n 6th June, 2023, The University of Dodoma launches its Industrial Advisory Committees (IACs) under Higher Education for Economic Transformation (HEET) Project.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor – Academic, Research and Consultancy and HEET Project Coordinator at UDOM Prof. Razack Lokina said that among other things, HEET Project at UDOM will enhance teaching and learning environment, infrastructure and curriculum development and improve online operation of the University business process.

The Vice Chancellor Prof. Lughano Kusiluka thanked the Government of the 6th Phase Government for the HEET Project which aims to transform the Higher Education in Tanzania. He added that through IACs UDOM aims at ensuring that graduates from the University are well-prepared for the demands of ever-evolving job market.

Speaking during the launching ceremony the Minister for Education, Science and Technology Hon. Prof. Adolf Mkenda (MP) said that the Committees are intended to play a crucial role in bridging the gap between the academia and industry. He added that, IACs will serve as virtual links in insuring that our educational system aligns well with the needs and demands of the business sector and influence the development of relevant academic curricula that will produce graduate that can easily integrate in job market, either as employees of various companies or self-employed. The Minister commend the University Management for officiating the engagement with partners in the industry through the Official Launch of IACs.

The launching ceremony brought together representatives from various industries, employers, alumni, students, instructors, and experts who will provide valuable insights, guidelines and recommendations on curriculum development, field attachments and placement, research priorities, innovation, enterprise development and the integration of emerging technologies into the academic curriculum.
